Places to Cool Down this Summer on 30A

Summer heat got you and the fam in an “It’s too hot outside!” rut? Don’t worry, it happens to the best of us this time of year. Good thing we live where we do! Here are a few of my favorite places to gather up the gang, pack a few snacks, kick up my feet, and make some serious headway on my Summer booklist:

Grayton Beach State Park: Grayton Beach consistently ranks among the most beautiful + pristine beaches in the U.S. Western Lake offers fishing and paddling, and those who want to explore on foot have 4 miles of trails to traverse through a coastal forest where scrub oaks and magnolias are bent and twisted by salt winds.

The Beach Club at Watercolor Inn & Resort: The 45,000 square foot Beach Club pool at the WaterColor Inn & Resort is perfect for everyone in your fam. A total of 7 pools including 1 children’s pool, 1 family pool and a designated quiet pool. You can spend your day relaxing and is located only steps away from private beach access.

Topsail Hill Preserve State Park: Topsail Hill is named for its dunes, which rise like a ship’s sails over soft sand beaches and the emerald waters of the Gulf of Mexico.
Those same white quartz dunes are responsible for a rare coastal ecosystem of freshwater dune lakes that teem with aquatic wildlife. Walkers will pass through old-growth pine forests, sandy scrubland, dunes and wetlands.

Caliza Pool at Alys Beach: A 100-foot, zero entry saltwater oasis is the centerpiece to 3 other pools, each one having unique uses. A shallow pool for the whole fam to enjoy with fountain spouts and draped awnings for shade. A 75-foot lap pool which features a poolside iPod port for personal underwater music listening. This pool also provides shade with a wood trellis and an overarching bamboo hedge.
